Are you still using outdated extinguishants?

Halon has been used to great effect as an extinguishant since the 1950s and has proven to be particularly useful in protecting computers and IT equipment. However, as a CFC based gas, Halon is environmentally damaging and its release during manufacture, decanting, use and misuse depletes the ozone layer.

As a result, Halon is no longer allowed as an extinguishant, as of 31st December 2003.

However, Star Security (UK) Limited design, install and maintain replacement systems using non-ozone depleting substances, such as FM200®. The systems we install are environmentally friendly, as effective as the old Halon systems, non-damaging to computers and sensitive equipment and in many cases we can even reuse your existing pipework.
